SJP Presents at National Juvenile and Criminal Justice Conferences 12.02.24
In November, SJP had the opportunity to present at the Indigent Defense Research Association (IDRA), a sub-component of the American Society of Criminology's 2024 Annual Conference, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP) 2024 National Conference on Youth Justice.
The IDRA conference was centered around criminological research and education matters, including people, policy, and practice in tumultuous times. SJP Senior Staff Attorney, Rachel Goodman, spoke to the attendees at the IDRA conference about SJP's model and how to integrate a disability analysis into criminal defense.
The OJJDP conference was centered around the continuum of care for communities, which describes a framework for youth justice services and the dynamic and evolving nature of youth involvement in this continuum. SJP Deputy Director, Tayo Belle, spoke to the attendees about transforming care for students with disabilities in secure settings and challenges in correctional education.
SJP is thrilled to have had the opportunity to share our work and connect with other advocates.
