Irene Ameena is a rising 3L at Harvard Law School. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Irene received a B.A. in Human Dimensions of Organizations and a B.A. in Plan II Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. At HLS, Irene is on the board of the Muslim Law Students’ Association and a conference organizer with the Bell Collective for Critical Race Theory. She is also a member of Harvard Defenders--student attorneys who represent low-income individuals in probable cause criminal hearings--and a Youth Advocacy and Policy Fellow. During law school she has worked at Mental Health Advocacy Project for Kids representing students with special education needs in school discipline proceedings, conducted legislative advocacy for trauma-sensitive schools across Massachussetts, and interned with a plaintiffs' side firm litigating major class action cases, from disability law to wage-and-hour. Prior to law school, Irene was a research assistant at the Hackett Center for Mental Health and a tutor in various capacities.
