SJP Holds 2022 Annual Summer Summit, a Conversation and Day of Giving

On July 27, SJP held a virtual Summer Summit, which raised over $55,000 for the organization, all of which will go directly to serving older court-involved students with disabilities, both during incarceration and throughout reentry. The Summit featured a discussion with three of the attorneys working on Charles H. v. District of Columbia: Tayo Belle, Senior Staff Attorney at School Justice Project, Kaitlin Banner, Deputy Legal Director, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and Zenia Sanchez Fuentes, Partner at Terris Pravlik & Millian. The Charles H. case is a pending class action lawsuit against DC for failing to provide special education to students with disabilities who were incarcerated at the DC jail complex during the pandemic. SJP is so grateful to the attendees, donors, and sponsors, which included AlixPartners, The Russo-Thompson Family, Venable LLP, Halo Top International, Mountain Shore Properties, Arnold & Porter LLP, Nixon LLP, The Weisshaw Family, Dele Butler, Sarah Remes, Dan Sharpe, and Marcus Littles. Thank you for all your support!
